| What Does Our School Offer? |
|
Spanish is taught through math/science curriculum and conversation. After five years of the Immersion program, students will develop proficiency in the Spanish language. Research shows children involved in Immersion programs have more flexibility in thinking, greater sensitivity to language and a better ear for listening. It also gives the children a head start in language requirements for college.

What Makes Our School Unique?
Glendale is Nashville's first Spanish Immersion School. We teach Spanish through math and science daily. All reading, language, writing, social studies, and spelling is taught in English. Latin culture is also emphasized through art and music.
All classes are based on core curriculum standards. Grade level teams, the librarian, reading specialist, mentor teacher, and related arts teachers collaborate to provide a rich learning environment that challenges all students to reach their potential for learning. Glendale has a full-time ENCORE program for the gifted and talent. Over 40% of our students participate in this program. We offer computer lab, a Spanish/ English library, opportunities for students to participate in activities after school, and special musical and art experiences.
Glendale is a family centered learning community. We welcome parents who are involved and want to participate in their child's learning journey. Our doors are always open to parents who want to share their time and talents. By celebrating diversity through art, music, drama, dance, and storytelling, we work together to challenge and support all our students as they embark in a lifelong learning adventure. By celebrating diversity through art, music, drama, and storytelling, we work together to challenge and support all our students as they embark in a life long interest in Spanish Immersion experience.

Community Partners
Our PTO parent group was formed from our zoned families and the surrounding Nashville community. Glendale has a partnership with “Sister Cities,” which is a local group of citizens interested in providing cultural programs for our school. David Lipscomb, Belmont and Vanderbilt Spanish students volunteer. Glendale parents are thrilled at the chance to have the option of their students to learn Spanish through the curriculum. Belmont holds classes on our campus for Early Education majors.
