What Makes Our School Unique?
Haynes Middle Health/Medical Science Design Center offers students a unique opportunity to explore future science and medical careers. We are the only middle school in MNPS with a health and medical focus. Haynes has embraced the Paideia philosophy of learning and is a pathway to East Nashville Magnet.
The Paideia (py-dee-a) philosophy "celebrates the fundmental notion that to be fully educated is a lifelong adventure that only begins with an individual's formal schooling."
A comprehensive course of study is followed that incorporates three complementary instructional techniques:
- Didactic instruction;
- Intellectual coaching; and
- Seminar discussion.

Who Attends Our School?
Students who attend Haynes Health/Medical Science Design Center represent various zones within the District. As a fall application magnet school, students are provided a pathway to East Nashville Magnet High School. Additionally, students may also select to attend Maplewood, Whites Creek, or their zones high school.
