What Makes Our School Unique?

Thank you for your interest in Meigs, where the active, meaningful participation of all stakeholders is a vital part of our efforts to educate our students. School should not be a place a child "goes to" that is isolated from family and community. Rather, parents, the school and the community should form a dynamic partnership with a common goal: the education of the child. To this end, we offer a tremendous staff of dedicated individuals who use a variety of challenging and meaningful instructional strategies. Learners at Meigs develop the knowledge and skills needed to learn continuously in an ever-changing world.
Our liberal arts curriculum provides an exceptional variety of opportunities including foreign languages, courses for high school credit and advanced courses in the arts.
We are committed not only to our primary task of addressing students "intellectual growth, but to providing opportunities for them to explore and grow emotionally, socially, physically and aesthetically as well.
We offer a positive learning environment where ALL learners experience success. Indeed, we leave no child behind and neither do we leave them unknown. Knowing who our students are and what motivates them is important to us and to their success.
We have a strong belief that individuals cannot function in the world without respect for themselves and others. At Meigs, we stress the need for everyone, students, parents and staff, to work together respectfully and responsibly.

Who Attends Our School?

Because Meigs is a magnet school, any student living in Davidson County may apply to attend through the lottery. Students must score 85 or above average for the spring semester of last year and the 1st nine weeks of the current school year with no failing grades. Also, current Metro students must have achievements test scores advanced or proficient in both math and reading and non-Metro students must have reading and math stanine scores on a norm-referenced achievement test equaling 14 or above (no rounding).
