Which one of these children is homeless? Children who are homeless deserve to enjoy childhood and the benefits of a solid education. But they need a HERO -
The HERO (Homeless Education Resources Outreach) Program for Families in Transition is co-sponsored by Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and the Tennessee Department of Education to support the educational needs of homeless children and youth and other families in transition. The program is funded by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, and services are provided to families with school-age children.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICES
If, due to a lack of housing, you are living in
- A shelter
- A motel
- A vehicle
- A campground
- On the street
- In abandoned buildings or trailers
- Or doubled-up with relatives or friends,
then you are eligible for services under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
