Fall Guidance Deadlines

August 31 Transcript requests for ANY public university due

September 10 SAT registration deadline for October 6 test

September 12 PSAT money collection BEGINS, grades 9-11, $15

September 14 Deadline to purchase tickets for HBCU State Farm College Fair in Atlanta on Sept. 29th, 10 am – 2pm. Order tickets at www.atlantafootballclassic.com.

September 21 ACT registration deadline for October 27 test

September 28 PSAT money collection ENDS, grades 9-11, $15

September 28 Applications for ANY state college due. State

(recommended) institutions generally admit students on a first-come, first-serve basis and several expect to reach full capacity for ’08 freshmen by the middle of the fall.

October 19 Governor’s School* applications due in Guidance.

Applications at www.tennessee.gov/education/govschools.

November 1 UTK scholarship deadline
(must have completed BOTH the admission application AND the Freshman Scholarship Application)

This FREE summer opportunity to earn college credits is available to current sophomores and juniors and encompasses a number of subject areas. Governor’s School applications are available on-line: www.tennessee.gov/education/govschools. Applications must be turned in to Guidance by Friday, October 19.

Students have the opportunity to attend one of the following Governor School programs; Agricultural Sciences, Arts, Computational Physics (NEW), Emerging Technologies (NEW), Engineering, Humanities, International Studies,
Information Technology Leadership, Prospective Teachers, Sciences, Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage (archaeology, etc.), or Scientific Models and Data Analysis (NEW).
