Gaylord Entertainment Center

G.E.C.The GEC is much more than just an entertainment venue for neighboring Hume-Foggers. The GEC is the pencil partner for Hume-Fogg, helping to host many events that are necessary for larger-sized rooms. Hume-Fogg students usually report to the GEC for major test dates as well as for meetings for a larger-scaled topic. As well, in the past the Gaylord Entertainment Center has hosted some pep-rallies and proms for Hume-Fogg. All-in-all, the GEC has served many purposes for Hume-Fogg, remaining one of our most important neighbors of the Hume-Fogg community.

Nashville has become a premier regional city that has successfully maintained its small-city charm. The development of Nashville's new downtown arena exemplifies the city's changing persona and, in fact, has played a major role in stimulating much of Nashville's current urban revitalization. The new facility, which opened its doors in December 1996, is an exciting and modern entertainment and sports arena with the flexibility to host major national events as well as hometown entertainment.

Gaylord Entertainment Center, initiated by Nashville Mayor Phil Bredesen and approved by the Metro/Davidson County Council in 1993, is one of the finest facilities of its kind in America, while uniquely embracing Nashville's heritage as "Music City, U.S.A." For the event planner, the spectator, the athlete and the performer, the new arena is equipped to deliver the latest in high-quality, "user-friendly" features. A soundstage-quality rehearsal facility is included in the design, making the arena a perfect site for concert performers.

The arena site is conveniently located in the heart of Music City, directly across the street from the Nashville Convention Center and a few blocks away from the city's historic Second Avenue district. The arena's impact on Nashville is evident as the downtown district bustles with activity. A wealth of restaurants, shops and entertainment venues, including nationally recognized neighbors, Nashville's Hard Rock Cafe and Wildhorse Saloon, have done a brisk business since the facility's opening. The Nashville International Airport is a quick seven-mile drive, and the arena is within a half-mile of three major interstate arteries.
