PHYSICAL EDUCATION
This is an activity class required for graduation in Metro Public Schools. Physical education classes at Hume-Fogg are designed to help students maintain physical, mental, emotional and social health. This is accomplished through a variety of physical activities. These activities include, but are not limited to the following: golf, tennis, badmintton, cooperative games, ultimate frisbee, ice skating, bowling, rock climbing and multiple team games. Students are expected to dress out every day in the appropriate attire.
LIFETIME WELLNESS
Lifetime Wellness is a health and physical education course required by the state of Tennessee. Students spend time in the gymnasium participating in physical activity and spend time in the classroom concentrating on the seven components of Lifetime Wellness. These components include the following: Physcial Fitness and Related Skills, Drug Use/Abuse, Mental Health, First Aid and Safety, Nutrition, Disease Prevention and Control, and Sexuality and Family Life. The goal of Lifetime Wellness is to provide the student with skills that will help them lead a productive life and maintain physical, mental, emotional and social health.
