Our investment as parents is critical as well.
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN:

  • Invest is the primary fund-raiser of the Hume-Fogg Parent Association. Nothing to sell or buy! All profit!
  • Magnet schools receive the same funding as zoned schools, yet Hume-Fogg’s excellent programs have greater funding needs.
  • The academic year 2008-2009 needs your generosity NOW.

  • WHAT IS INVEST IN EXCELLENCE?
    Invest in Excellence is the major fund-raiser to fund the budget of the Hume-Fogg Association. The budget includes teacher wish list items and operating expenses. Nothing to sell!!
  • WHAT WAS PURCHASED LAST YEAR WITH INVEST MONIES?
    Last year we raised around $88,000 with your generosity and support of Invest. Our expenditures included: a new social studies computer lab, a new Mac mobile lab; parent communications such as the newsletter and directory; science laboratory equipment; building improvements; visual and performing arts funding; sports support (every year we try to replace a different uniform); guidance support; as well as teacher appreciation and hospitality.
  • WHY DO WE HELP ATHLETICS?
    Metro does not provide monies for athletics. The programs have to be self-sustaining including funding equipment and uniforms, as well as security and referees for all games. The Hume-Fogg Association funding is a small supplement to the funds raised by the athletics department through charging admissions, selling concessions, etc. The Association alternates what athletic programs are assisted each year.
  • WHAT IS THE BUDGET FOR THIS YEAR?

  • HOW ARE DECISIONS MADE TO USE THE INVEST FUNDS?
    Every Hume-Fogg department makes an allocation request. Then, an allocation committee made of parents and administration decides which items to recommend and a budget is approved by the Hume-Fogg Association. Funds are released as soon as they come in so that purchases can be made as soon in the school year as possible. Typically we can fund between 30-50% of the teacher’s requests each year.
